How is jade formed?

The Earth before and after the separation of the Continents

Jade is formed usually through metamorphism associated with subduction faulting along tectonic plate boundaries.   The southern edge of the North American tectonic plate forms the Motagua Fault.

We can visualize the plaques as gigantic sphere caps that completely cover the planet, and that are in constant change.

In Guatemala where the sub-duction faulting causes the high pressure and low temperature, metamorphic environment necessary to form jade.

As we know, this apearance changes with time, varying from a super continent called "Pangaea" (from the greek All the Earth) to the actual configuration, going through the sub continents Gondwanaland and Laurasia.   These relative movements between plaques will not cease in millions of years, deforming each time our restricted vision of the world.
